Adore Your Second Chance (Harry Styles x Shinedown)
September 2022. I was sitting one afternoon in my Astronomy class in my first semester of my senior year-Kean University dual enrollment plan. Mind you, I am a diligent student, and that course was somewhat challenging. Yet I admit, I was zoning out. Had I not zoned out, however, this website would not exist. For upon my travel deep into my thoughts, a little thing started playing in my head. Two songs I enjoyed were playing in my head at the same time. It was Shinedown’s “Second Chance” and Harry Styles’ “Adore You.”
At this point in my life, I had already recognized my perfect pitch ability. The reason the two worked so perfectly together as they played in my head is because both songs were in the same key, C Minor. And so, I went onto YouTube and tried to search for an already existing mashup of the two songs. Upon finding nothing, I had a wild epiphany. I should make this mashup. With the power of iPhone screen recording and iMovie, “Adore Your Second Chance” was born. The original sounded very choppy, and that is because I hadn’t discovered Moises yet, an app that would benefit my mashup-making process heavily. I would go on to discover Moises in June 2023.
“Adore Your Second Chance” was completed on October 2nd, 2022. However, I kept it saved in my camera roll for a while, as I did not want to risk uploading it to YouTube only for it to be removed due to copyright law. However, on July 6th, 2023, I finally took the risk and surprised the world with my very first uploaded mashup. This upload served as my YouTube renaissance, as I had wiped all of my previous videos (I was young, weird, and embarrassing. Those videos needed to go).
Fast forward to this past February, 2025. I was sitting in the Kean Starbucks with a buddy of mine, and I happened to be talking with him about my mashups. I told him I used my phone to screen record the videos, and he promptly suggested a much more convenient alternative – a website that converts YouTube links into MP3 and MP4 files! (and dude if you’re reading this – thank you again for making my mashup process so much easier).
Later that night, I went home and opened the link he had sent me – and I tested that software using the YouTube links to the “Second Chance” instrumental and “Adore You” vocals. I had wanted to remake this mashup anyway, and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. Remember, this mashup sounded choppy originally, because I did not have Moises to match the BPMs of the songs together. Now that I did (and was running low on mashup ideas), I figured it was time to REMASH “Adore Your Second Chance.” The updated version premiered on my YouTube channel on May 30th, 2025.
