Out Of The City (Taylor Swift x The 1975)

Back when I uploaded “Clean Robbers,” I made it known that it wouldn’t be the only time I mashed up my favorite band and my favorite artist. Almost four months later, I premiered what would be my “final mashup for now” – two more songs from those same two albums. It was “Out Of The Woods (Taylor’s Version)” and “The City” (a song Swift once performed live actually).

This mashup was challenging to make, mostly on the “Out Of The Woods” side of things. Between finding good instrumental tracks, clear acapella tracks, and stringing them together correctly, it was a hassle. As far as BPM matching, I had no trouble getting “The City” to fit right in. Volume mixing was difficult, so I apologize if that is a little disproportionate. However, I do think it was a great place to pause, as I had to focus on finals and other things in my life at the time.

I created “Out Of The City” the day after releasing the ONICKS mashup – almost a month before its premiere. Like I’ve stated, I was working on a mostly two-week schedule with my mashups at the time. I finally premiered this mashup on April 12th, 2024, complete with a livestream on Instagram before and after the premiere. In those livestreams, I teased future mashup-related content that either I’ve either scrapped or have yet to come to fruition (there is one mashup I’ve been dying to create since June 2023, but I have to wait for the release of a specific… ‘version’ of one of the two songs, if you know what I mean).

I had no idea what I was doing next after “Out Of The City.” This mashup was when I really began to slow down the process after eight fantastic months. I made the conscious decision to sideline my mashup projects, as it is not my main hobby and it takes an incredible amount of effort from me to make each one. I basically told myself, “if I get a mashup idea, I’ll make it,” even if they were few and far between.
