Stephen’s Sky Full of Stars (Coldplay x Taylor Swift)
While I was busy hyping up and promoting “Sparkleland,” I also had something else brewing behind the curtains. I started a pattern in 2024 where I would make a mashup I had planned, promote it until its release date, and make the next one while promoting the upcoming mashup. And the next mashup I had planned was this one.
I was desperate to find a song to mash up with Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars,” and I was troubleshooting a few. But the one that surprisingly stuck out was with Taylor Swift’s deep cut off of Fearless – “Hey Stephen.” Of course, I used Taylor’s Version for this mashup, as well as utilizing Moises to separate vocals and instrumentals. This mashup turned out to be as magical as I’d expect the two songs to be combined. Once again, this is nowhere near my best mashup, as the acapella for “Hey Stephen” did not sound very clean.
HOWEVER.
“Stephen’s Sky Full of Stars” is, to date, my most viewed mashup, sitting currently at over 1.6 thousand views on YouTube. I like to think of it as a birthday miracle, because I premiered this mashup on my 19th birthday, February 16th, 2024, exactly one month after I finished editing it. I’ve never expected any of my mashups to reach this amount of views, and I do not really care if they don’t (except “She’s Americk-roll,” my underrated masterpiece). This mashup not only takes a Country song and puts it with a famous Pop song, but it gives one of Swift’s lesser-known songs more of a fun, upbeat, Coldplay spin on it. While not my best, this mashup holds a special place in my heart; not only for being my most viewed, but also because I premiered it on my birthday.
